What is Artificial Igknorance?

Artificial Igknorance is the brand name for the iOS apps on this site. The name is a deliberate play on "artificial intelligence", a reminder that the smartest software isn't the one that knows everything about you. It's the one that's strategically ignorant. Our apps don't need your name, your email, your bank login, or your cloud account to work. The misspelling is on purpose.

What we ship

Nine apps live on the App Store today, across seven areas:

• Escalator Field Command: the app for working escalator mechanics, on iPhone, iPad and Android. Maintenance routes, Category 1 testing, SSPI compliance, equipment specs, inspection logs.
• HealthTrail Medical: a digital medical memory for the whole family. Visual timeline, AI medication scanning, vaccine tracking, insurance card auto-fill.
• Clock-In Everyday: daily AI-coached fitness for people over 50 and heading into retirement. Morning readiness scoring from Apple Health, sessions that adapt to how you slept, and personalized daily stretches.
• SnapLedger: a household bill and subscription tracker that works from photos of your bills instead of bank logins.
• Precious metals trackers: Gold Watcher, Silver Watcher, and Copper Watcher: live spot prices, ETFs and futures, scrap and karat calculators, portfolios in 10+ currencies. Built for stackers, jewellers, and scrap dealers.
• Lithium Watcher: lithium prices from three sources (CME futures, GSCI Index, LIT ETF), mining stocks (ALB, SQM, PLL, LAC), and the major EV manufacturers (Tesla, Rivian, NIO, XPeng, Lucid, Li Auto, BYD) on one compare chart. Plus prediction markets and portfolio tracking. Built for lithium investors and EV-market watchers.
• RidgePacker: hiking and backpacking gear organization for iPhone and iPad. Master gear catalog with photos and weights, per-trip packing lists, day-pack sublists, and an Everyday Carry list. Everything stored on-device.

Why we build this way

Most apps treat your data as the product. We treat the app as the product. That choice shapes everything:

• • No accounts. Open the app, start working. There's no signup, no email confirmation, no password to forget.
• • On-device by default. Your records, your routes, your portfolios, your medical history, all stored locally on your iPhone. Nothing leaves the device unless you explicitly export it, with two named exceptions: apps with AI coaching send only what's needed to generate your plan, never stored afterward and never tied to an account, and optional AI scanning in HealthTrail Medical sends the photo you chose to scan to our AI provider to read it, and it is not stored by them for training, see our Privacy Policy.
• • No telemetry. No analytics SDKs, no third-party trackers, no behavior pings home. We don't know how you use the app, and we don't need to.
• • No subscriptions trap. Every app is free to download. Pro subscriptions for deeper features (portfolio tracking, packing-list tools, advanced calculators) always start with a free trial. No dark patterns, no surprise auto-renew.

The apps are the biggest piece of the work right now, but not the only piece.

Counterweight Forum

A community for vertical-transportation pros. Forum, shop talk, an open library of industry references, and ongoing discussion of news and modernization. Gatekeeping-free and welcoming to technicians and curious enthusiasts alike.

Counterweight Newsletter

The elevator and escalator industry newsletter. Weekly briefings on code updates, modernization projects, industry news, and the conversations shaping how the trade moves. For technicians, consultants, and anyone who follows the vertical-transportation world closely.
