What is Artificial Igknorance?

Artificial Igknorance is the brand name for the iOS apps designed and shipped by Mike Dangerfield. The name is a deliberate play on "artificial intelligence" — a reminder that the smartest software isn't the one that knows everything about you. It's the one that's strategically ignorant. Our apps don't need your name, your email, your bank login, or your cloud account to work. The misspelling is on purpose.

What we ship

Nine apps live on the App Store today, across five areas:

• Escalator Field Command — the iOS app for working escalator mechanics. Maintenance routes, Category 1 testing, SSPI compliance, equipment specs, inspection logs.
• HealthTrail Medical — a digital medical memory for the whole family. Visual timeline, AI medication scanning, vaccine tracking, insurance card auto-fill.
• SnapLedger — a household bill and subscription tracker that works from photos of your bills instead of bank logins.
• Precious metals trackers — Gold Watcher, Silver Watcher, and Copper Watcher — live spot prices, ETFs and futures, scrap and karat calculators, portfolios in 10+ currencies. Built for stackers, jewellers, and scrap dealers.
• Lithium Watcher — live LIT ETF price, lithium mining stocks, and the EV-manufacturer market in one app. Built for the EV revolution.
• RidgePacker — hiking and backpacking gear organization for iPhone and iPad. Master gear catalog with photos and weights, per-trip packing lists, day-pack sublists, and an Everyday Carry list. Everything stored on-device.
• Life in Focus — a minimalist life-week visualization (currently not actively promoted while focus stays on the priority apps).

Why we build this way

Most apps treat your data as the product. We treat the app as the product. That choice shapes everything:

• • No accounts. Open the app, start working. There's no signup, no email confirmation, no password to forget.
• • 100% on-device. Your records, your routes, your portfolios, your medical history — all stored locally on your iPhone. Nothing leaves the device unless you explicitly export it.
• • No telemetry. No analytics SDKs, no third-party trackers, no behavior pings home. We don't know how you use the app, and we don't need to.
• • No subscriptions trap. Most apps are free to download and use. Some include optional in-app purchases for power-user features — never required for the core experience.
• • iOS only, on purpose. One platform built well beats two platforms half-finished. iOS gives us secure local storage, on-device AI, Core ML, and Apple's privacy guarantees by default.

Who builds it

Every Artificial Igknorance app is designed and shipped by Mike Dangerfield, an independent iOS developer. One person, one Apple Developer account (view all apps), one set of design and privacy decisions across the whole catalog.

That means the same person picking the icon also picks the data policy, also writes the release notes, also responds when you email support. There's no growth team, no marketing department, and no investors waiting for your data to monetize.
